### All students must [**check-in**](https://registrar.fas.harvard.edu/check-in) at [**My.Harvard**](https://portal.my.harvard.edu/) at the beginning of each term to be considered an active student and register for courses. Late check-in may be subject to a $50 late fee.


- **Course Registration**: students are required to take a minimum of 16 credits per term. Register [here](https://portal.my.harvard.edu/).
- **Advising Hold**: cleared when your advisor signs your Crimson Cart (formerly Study Card).
- **Financial Hold**: please contact [Joe Lavin](mailto:lavin@chemistry.harvard.edu) if you experience registration issues due to financial holds.
- **Fall 2025:** Check-in period begins on August 18th. Students must check in by September 2nd. The course registration deadline is September 2nd (incoming students only).
- **Spring 2026:** Check-in period begins on January 12th. Students must check in by February 2nd. The course registration deadline is January 26th.
