Dr. Adam A. WInkleman.  "Careers in government and public service; a discussion with a CCB alumnus."  Lunch will be served: please contact Victor Zhao (yzhao01@g.harvard.edu), by Thursday, 21 April.Abstract:  Adam Winkleman is a chemist by training.  He completed his PhD at Harvard under Professor George Whitesides, in the area of electrostatics and magnetic self-assembling systems.  His postdoctoral research on nanostructures was at the Weizmann Institute of Science, in Israel.  After returning to the US, Adam worked at NanoTerra in Cambridge, MA, as a lead scientist, where he invented and patented new formulation for animal (cat) litter.  He transitioned to the policy sector through a Mirzayan fellowship with the National Academies of Science, focusing on nanotechnology.  He currently serves as an analyst with the Department of Defense, where he spent 5 years analyzing the DoD's annual $2B investment in science and technology.
