One of only 32 Americans to win a Rhodes Scholarship, the Class of 2018 undergraduate will travel to the University of Oxford next October. There, he plans to pursue a Master of Science in integrated immunology and migration studies to "improve the way we track and treat infectious diseases" (Read his interview with the [Harvard Crimson](http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2017/11/20/four-win-american-rhodes/))

At Harvard, Alan is concentrating in both Molecular and Cellular Biology and Human Anthropology. He currently works in the lab of Higgins Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, [Dan Kahne](https://chemistry.harvard.edu/people/dan-kahne), whose research focuses on the problem of antibiotic resistance, especially in Gram-negative bacteria. With this valuable immersion in immunology and his drive and undeniable promise, we are excited to see what Alan's future brings.
