CCB hosts inaugural Chemistry Future Leaders Symposium
On Wednesday, August 30, CCB hosted the inaugural Harvard Chemistry Future Leaders Symposium (CFLS).
The mission of this symposium was to raise awareness of research opportunities at Harvard/CCB among senior graduate students and highlight a new postdoctoral fellowship, the CCB Chemistry Future Leaders Fellowship. The event showcased the achievements of early career scholars in chemistry and adjacent fields who have made outstanding scientific contributions and have shown exemplary stewardship in research and education with a focus on equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging.
By providing a platform for meaningful connection between talented graduate scholars and Harvard CCB, the symposium sought to improve accessibility and inclusive excellence in its community.
The following scholars presented at the symposium:
1. Segun Victor Obisesan (Auburn) "Electrocatalytic dioxygen reduction using first row transition metal complexes with redox active organic ligands."
2. Seyed Amirhossein Nasseri (U British Columbia) "Discovery of a new pathway for bacterial metabolism of carbohydrates in the human gut microbiome."
3. Sneha Kumari (UT Dallas) "Using ZIF-8 to Protect Biomaterials and Develop Patient-Friendly Modalities of Vaccine Delivery."
4. Christopher Johnny (U Penn) "Exploration and development of photoconvertible chemical tools."
5. Angel Gonzalez-Valero (UC Berkeley) "Single-Atom Signaling in Redox Biology: Chemoproteomic Approaches to Identify and Target Functional Methionine Residues in the Proteome."
6. Salome Püntener (U Zurich) "Single-Molecule Peptide Identification using Fluorescence Blinking Fingerprints."
