Connors Renovation Team gets Green Carpet Award for Nocera Lab
On April 2nd, Harvard awarded a 2014 Green Carpet Award to the FAS Nocera Lab Renovation Team in recognition of their revitalization of the third floor of Conant and sub-basement of Mallinckrodt for the new Nocera labs. Green Carpet Awards are biennial and celebrate key projects across campus that are creating a healthy, more sustainable environment. This is not the first time CCB has won a Green Carpet award. In the first year of their existence, Green Carpet awards went to Associate Director Jerry Connors individually and to his Operations Team as a whole for helping to make CCB a campus leader in energy conservation and sustainability.
Now, in 2013-2014, Jerry and his team, working with university officials, have been honored as an excellent example of a team that has done an outstanding job upgrading and adding to CCB's facilities to make the space more energy and water efficient. Driven by faculty interest in sustainability and a supporting, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic team, the Nocera Lab has achieved a 41% reduction in water use and an 11% reduction in lighting power density. Other sustainability features include energy efficient HVAC systems, efficient lighting and day-lighting fixtures, water efficient lab process equipment, and more. Bravo to the dedicated Lab Renovation Team!
