2018 Dudley Herschbach Teaching Award Winners
The Award recognizes excellence in teaching and dedication to departmental service
Each year, the Department identifies one or two graduate students, who demonstrate exceptional teaching prowess. This year, we honor Florian Hase and Michael Mandler for their talent and devotion to their—and our—students.
Professor Dudley Herschbach presented the 2018 Awards to Florian and Michael. Herschbach, the Award's founder (and inspiration), has been a dedicated advocate for teaching excellence in science and chemistry, in particular. In fact, the Nobel Prize Laureate named his introductory undergraduate course in general chemistry as his "most challenging assignment."
Florian (Aspuru-Guzik Group) and Michael (Kahne Group) received glowing nominations from CCB students and faculty alike. To honor their outstanding service, the department will inscribe their names on the Teaching Award plaque in our Department Center.
