Tucci Celebrates 25 Years in CCB

CCB alum Gregg Tucci was recently feted by the faculty for 25 years of service to the department. Gregg came to CCB in 1989 as a graduate student, and after finishing his PhD under the direction of Richard Holm stayed on to our great benefit: as an Assistant Instructional Laboratory Coordinator, then Assistant Director of Undergraduate Studies, then Lecturer. In recognition of his many contributions to undergraduate teaching and the instructional labs, Gregg was promoted to Co-Director of Undergraduate Studies in 2006 and became Senior Lecturer in September 2007. An academic advisor in Harvard College and a freshman advisor since 2001, he has also worked in the undergraduate research tutorials program, as an Associate of Leverett House and as tutor in Biochemical Sciences. Gregg’s dedication to students and their advancement has brought numerous awards including the Petra T. Shattuck Excellence in Teaching Award (2007), The Marquand Award for Exceptional Advising and Counseling (2010), The Star Family Prize for Excellence in Advising (2014), and, outside Harvard, the Zaida C. Morales Prize for Outstanding Mentoring of ACS Scholars (2014). Students have recognized his commitment by noting Gregg as a Favorite Professor in the Harvard College Yearbook for four years running (2011 – 2014). CCB is fortunate to have someone working with us with the commitment and passion for student excellence that Gregg Tucci exhibits. We thank Gregg for all he has given us in his 25 years with CCB and hope he will continue to serve our department for many years to come.
