Undergraduate Simar Bajaj awarded FPA Science Story of the Year Award

Simar Bajaj, an undergraduate Chemistry concentrator, has won the Foreign Press Association's 2022 Science Story of the Year Award for his report on xenotransplantation.  Bajaj's award-winning story "Pig to human heart transplants are the future. Are we ready for it?" was published in The Guardian.

The Foreign Press Assoication (FPA) is a UK-based not-for-profit Friendly Society. As a member of the UK Press Card Authority, it provides official journalistic accreditation to more than 2,500 international correspondents every year.  Throughout the year, the FPA holds a wide-ranging programme of briefings, facilitating access to Government Departments, Whitehall, the City's financial district and Royal events. The FPA also organises book presentations, political and current affairs briefings, conferences with key figures, and grants awards to media figures.

Bajaj became interested in science journalism after taking creative writing classes at Harvard, and to date he has published articles across various popular outlets, including Time, WIRED and Scientific American. More of Bajaj’s journalistic work and other writings can be found at his website. Bajaj's development as a science writer was previously reported on by the Harvard Gazette.
