The first session will be led by Joyce, Paul, and Wendy, the progeny of Bill and Beth. As well as some family history, there will be music by Paul, and glimpses of dancing, skiing, windsurfing, Wendy’s sculptures and Bill’s rose garden. The other sessions, led by alumni of Bill’s group and faculty colleagues, will present reminiscences as well as tracing the Klemperer odyssey in molecular spectroscopy, its context and evolution. Each session will begin by talks by panelists—of course, with powerpoints--and then welcome tributes by attendees, both those requested in advance (AT) or spontaneous. Video tributes sent in advance (VT) by friends who could not be present in person will also be shown. A few snips of videos from the K-cloud will be shown as well, particularly parts of talks by Bill and Pat Thaddeus.

Thanks to Harvard’s Media Production group, we have the “Klemperer Cloud,” or "K-Cloud," which contains previous talks, photographs, and other aspects of Bill and Beth's life.

Augmented by the Symposium and other memoirs, the K-Cloud will convey the inspiring legacy of the Klemperer era and why those who knew Bill cherished both his science and loving, ebullient spirit.

So far the K-Cloud contains the items from (1) plus a dozen DVDs from the talks given at Bill's 80th birthday celebration in 2007, a talk he gave at the Science Center in 1999, a video tribute sent recently by Dick Zare, and many more photos. More will be added before March 24 and all of (2) soon after. The K-Cloud will also contain Bill’s CV, updated list of published papers, and the roster of his research group.
